The Ness family patio project began with a friendly and informative site visit with Mimi Ness from Ambler, PA. Site observations determined that removing the existing patio and sitting wall would be the best course of action to correctly extend and rebuild the elevated patio. The proposal includes approximately a 3' extension around the edge of the patio with a renovated base and new pavers. The elevated patio is held by a new retaining wall which will be constructed from EP Henry block wall and will extend 18" above patio grade for a sitting wall. Existing beds along the house will be removed and the patio will extend to the house, while creating a raised planter on the corner of the house. The ends of the sitting wall will feature pillars with lantern cap lights. The wall caps will also feature hardscape lights underneath. Following the construction of the wall, new landscape beds will be installed and the paver walkway moved to the outside edge of the concrete. This project will provide a shaded gathering oasis, with easy access to the grill and with flowering shrubs and perennials adding to the experience.
